How much screen time should kids have?

With more and more children having their own or access to a tablet, mobile phone etc, how much screen time is safe for children.

Is the tablet screen safe for children?  Many children at some point have suffered from eyestrain.

Here’s some tips on helping keep your children’s eyes healthy

  1. Being outdoors – get them in the garden or park as regular play and exercise could possibly help them prevent or reduce the development of myopia (short-sightedness).

  2. Use the device’s night settings – if your child’s device has night settings then this could possibly help children sleep after coming off the devide as it would reduce the amount of blue light given off by the screen

  3. Avoid using them before bedtime – ensure all digital devices are put away, preferably, at least an hour before bedtime

  4. Regular eye tests – it is advised children should have a sight test every two years or more often if your optometrist recommends it.
