Dry Eye Treatment

Tixel®

Tixel is a non-invasive thermomechanical treatment that uses controlled heat energy to stimulate the meibomian glands, rejuvenate the eyelid tissue, and enhance tear film quality. Tixel employs direct heat transfer via a specialized titanium tip, which delivers controlled thermal pulses to the skin and eyelids, promoting gland function and tear stability.

Tixel® treatment takes less than one minute and involves only a little discomfort with little to no pain. It is non-invasive and there is no downtime. The effects of Tixel® are longer lasting than the use of eye drops.

How is Tixel performed?

Treatment is performed on the upper and lower lid and each session takes about 2 minutes per eye and involves the application of controlled heat to the eyelid skin. Patients often report warm, tingling sensation during the procedure, but it is welltolerated without the need for anesthesia.

Unlike IPL it is a safe option for all skin tones.

How quickly will I experience relief?

Most patients experience notice able relief within a few weeks, with optimal results achieved after 4treatments. Regular maintenance sessions every 9 months help sustain long-term improvement.

How frequently will I need treatment?

In most cases, patients will need four Tixel® treatments, with an interval oftwo to three weeks between each treatment.

What are the risks?

Potential side effects include temporary redness, swelling, and a mild burning sensation which is only temporary.

Who is not suitable for treatment?

Tixel may not be suitable for those with active skin infections, certain skin disorders, or those who are pregnant or breast-feeding.
